Ritual
The act of RELEASING is as important to wellness as replenishing is. Ancient wisdom has taught us that most of what we come in contact with won’t harm us, unless it is isn’t able to move through us. This includes stress, chemicals, infection, and energy. The act of releasing creates space for what we need and what we desire – replacing the toxic and stagnant with the fresh, healthy, and nourishing. Paired with the Ritual of Smoothing, Softening and Releasing (See Ayurvedic Rose Body Polish Ritual), a deeper level release is now possible. Earth elements such as salts and soda are effective at soothing the skin, detoxifying the body, and nourishing the soul. (1,2)
A warm bath soak is the perfect time to slow down, de-stress and deepen the exhale. Rather than simply “bathing,” consider being completely still for 5-10 minutes. (It’s not as easy as you think!) 🙂 Feel the weightlessness of your body in contrast to heaviness often felt throughout the day – both physically (i.e… gravity) – and emotionally. Scan your body from head to toe. Consciously soften and release any tension held in any area of the body. Soften your heart. Smile, and let go.
